Philosophy of Breathing, Atmospheres, and Felt-Bodily Practices

  • University of Tokyo Center for Philosophy 8 Meguro City, Tokyo, 153-8902 Japan (map)

This workshop considers the body as a subject, not just an object, and considers breathing and atmosphere as the central dimension of physical experience. It is an international workshop that explores how breathing practice and atmospheric experience shape the body, the transformation of mind and body, and the relationship with others, culture, spirituality, and the environment, while intersecting perspectives such as philosophy, aesthetics, literature, and psychology.

15:00 - 16:00 Professor Megan Kaminski (University of Kansas) "Aspiration: Breath, Water, and the Grace of an Inward Sea"
