Guided Prairie Walk with Margaret Renkl

A special afternoon of learning, reflection and writing inspired by the Prairie.

Join Patti Beedles, Conservation Coordinator for the Kansas Land Trust, Andie Perdue, Area Advocate for Lands & Outdoors Unscripted Board Member, and Megan Kaminski, Poet and Professor of Environmental Studies at KU, along with special guest, Margaret Renkl, Author and New York Times columnist, for a special event at Akin Prairie. Attendees will learn about this special place, its important role in our ability to understand prairie ecosystems, and how it is cared for. Inspired by Margaret Renkl’s work, attendees will have a chance to participate in their own writing/response practice in collaboration with the Prairie. The event will close with a unique opportunity to hear Megan Kaminski read her poetry in the place that co-created it.

Bus pick-up is available in front of Haworth Hall on Sunnyside Ave. at 2:00 PM.

This event is presented in conjunction with the Kenneth Spencer Lecture, featuring Margaret Renkl in conversation with Megan Kaminski, at 7pm on Monday, November 3 at Liberty Hall.
